SUMMARY:Farm to School Planning Meeting
DESCRIPTION:Tomah Area School District Community Members\,\n\n\n\nYou are invited to be a partner with us as we look to implement a Farm to School (F2S) program in the Tomah Area School District.  F2S enriches the connection communities have with fresh\, healthy food and local food producers by changing food purchasing and education practices within schools.  Students gain access to healthy\, local foods as well as education opportunities such as school gardens\, cooking lessons and farm field trips. F2S empowers children and their families to make informed food choices while strengthening the local economy and contributing to vibrant communities.\n\n\n\nF2S implementation differs by location but always includes one or more of the following:\n\n	Procurement: Local foods are purchased\, promoted and served in the cafeteria or as a snack or taste-test\;\n	School gardens: Students engage in hands-on learning through gardening\; and\n	Education: Students participate in education activities related to agriculture\, food\, health or nutrition.\n\n  We need a wide range of skills and perspectives to successfully implement a F2S program. You may be able to offer your guidance and insight to help us successfully implement a F2S program here in the Tomah Area School District.  Please consider becoming a member of our Farm to School Advisory Committee.  We look to utilize your guidance\, input\, and potential access to resources to improve our food purchasing and education practices to provide local healthy food options and positive educational experiences for our students.\n\n\n\nOur first Farm to School Planning Meeting will be held on Thursday\, March 2 nd at 5:30pm.  Snacks and refreshments will be provided.
