Tomah High School: Pit Orchestra Director (1 Year)

The Tomah Area School District has the following extracurricular vacancy for ONE YEAR beginning in the 2025-26 school year:  THS Pit Orchestra Director

 

DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION: 

The THS Pit Orchestra Director is responsible for teaching and rehearsing the orchestra parts for the selected musical while working closely with the musical director in the following areas: show selection, casting, planning, rehearsing, and performing. This person shall report directly to the Musical Director and/or principal or designee. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

• Recruiting musicians to play in the pit orchestra

• Collaborate and communicate with the Musical Director and Musical Assistant about the production and music needs

• Rehearsing the musicians prior to combined rehearsals with the cast

• Leading the pit orchestra through the combined rehearsal process in collaboration with the other musical directors

• Communicating the facility and instrumental needs with the Musical Director

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE: 

• Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent

• Experiences and backgrounds with pit orchestra/band
