Position: Director of Marketing and Sponsorship
Location: Fort McCoy, WI
Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for marketing and building community partnerships? The Fort McCoy Directorate of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) is looking for a Director of Marketing and Sponsorship to join our Support Services Division.
In this vital role, you will lead comprehensive marketing strategies and manage robust commercial sponsorship initiatives that directly support the quality of life for our Soldiers, Families, and the entire Fort McCoy community.
What You Will Do:

  • Drive creative marketing campaigns for MWR programs, events, and facilities.
  • Cultivate and manage commercial sponsorship and advertising partnerships.
  • Lead a dedicated team of marketing professionals to increase program engagement and brand awareness.

This position is located within the NAF Support Services Division, DFMWR, Fort McCoy, WI.

Announcement will a have a first cut office date of May 25, 2026. Applicants that submit an application packet prior to that date and found eligible may be given first consideration.


Duties

  • Leads and supervises DFMWR Marketing team. Responsible for team building, performance management, and employee development to foster a high-performing collaborative creative environment.
  • Develops budget requirements for marketing activities and monitors budget execution. Directs the creation, implementation, and analysis of all marketing campaigns and publicity efforts.
  • Develops overarching marketing strategy based on organizational goals, needs assessments, and market data to effectively promote MWR programs and events.
  • Manages the public image of MWR by writing feature articles and other media content to highlight the value and benefits of MWR programs.
  • Analyzes market trends and conducts market research including focus groups and surveys to identify customer needs and preferences.
  • Actively markets MWR programs to generate revenue through commercial sponsorships and paid advertising. Manages the entire sales cycle, including developing proposals, negotiating contracts, and ensuring fulfillment.
  • Provides strategic oversight for all marketing functions, including digital marketing, social media, graphic design, and publications; ensuring alignment with MWR standards.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for commercial sponsors, advertisers and media partners. Performs other duties as assigned.

Conditions of employment
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one-year probationary period may be required.
  • Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
  • Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR215-3, para.2 to include a Tier 1 background investigation.
  • Duties may involve working both indoors and outdoors.
  • Driver's license required if operating government vehicles.
  • Business operations are Monday-Friday but are subject to change and will be based on the needs of the activity. Nights, weekends and holidays are required during MWR events.
Qualifications

A qualified candidate must possess the following:
Candidate must possess experience at a level that provided the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for successful performance as follows:
  • Experience demonstrating skill in applying a variety of principles, concepts, and techniques or marketing and sales.
  • Experience conducting research, surveys, and/or needs assessments to develop and execute marketing plans and campaigns.
  • Experience developing and presenting sponsorship solicitation packages and proposals.
  • Experience demonstrating skill in establishing cooperative relationships, such as with representatives of local media, community members, and military/civil service personnel.
  • Experience leading or mentoring other marketing professionals.
In addition to the above qualifications, candidates who possess the following qualifications will be considered "Highly Preferred" or "Best Qualified":
  • Two (2) years experience in a supervisory role, with direct responsibility for leading and managing a marketing team.
  • Demonstrated track record of meeting or exceeding revenue goals through the successful sale and execution of commercial sponsorships and advertising.
