The Toro Company Celebrates 50 Years of Business in Tomah
TOMAH, Wisc. (September 2, 2025) – The Toro Company proudly celebrates the 50th anniversary of its Tomah manufacturing facility, a cornerstone of product innovation, community partnership, and operational excellence since its opening in 1975.
Founded in 1914, The Toro Company is a leading worldwide provider of innovative solutions for the outdoor environment including turf and landscape maintenance, snow and ice management, underground utility construction, rental and specialty construction, and irrigation and outdoor lighting solutions.
In the early 1970s, Toro purchased 25 acres in the Tomah Industrial Park with a vision to expand its global manufacturing capabilities. The groundbreaking was marked by a unique gesture—a 7,500-square-foot area of sod shaped like the state of Wisconsin. Construction wrapped up in 1975, and the facility began operations with a team of 50 employees.
Over the past five decades, the Tomah plant has grown from its original footprint to a state-of-the-art facility spanning approximately 460,000 square feet, following a major 181,000-square-foot expansion in 2019 that added a new warehouse, weld shop, and paint system. The facility is now home to over 600 employees across multiple departments, reflecting Toro’s ongoing investment in its people and operations.
The Tomah facility has been widely recognized for its commitment to sustainability and community engagement. Notable accolades include the 2022 Energy Efficiency Excellence Award from Wisconsin Focus on Energy, the 2012 Green Tier Award from the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, and multiple honors from the Tomah Chamber of Commerce and local civic organizations.
Beyond its operational achievements, the Tomah team has made a lasting impact through community outreach and volunteerism—supporting initiatives such as tree planting in local parks, maintenance at the Jason Simcakoski Memorial Golf Course, and equipment donations to the local fire department, parks and recreation, and schools. Toro equipment is a familiar sight at local parades and events like the NTPA Tomah Tractor Pull.
“This milestone is a testament to the dedication of our employees and the strong partnerships we’ve built within the Tomah community,” said Josh Pavlak, senior director of operations in Tomah. “We’re proud of our legacy and excited for what the future holds.”
