The Tomah Area School District has the following vacancy beginning in the 2024-2025 school year:
 

High School Counselor
Tomah Area School District is seeking an innovative High School Counselor who can work collaboratively with colleagues, develop positive relationships with students and parents, and build partnerships with the community.  The School Counselor provides a wide range of services and support to students in grades 9-12 at Tomah High School.  Our counselors work to maximize college and career readiness for all students, help to resolve emotional and social problems that interfere with academic achievement, build capacity for each student to enjoy the fullest benefits of the education offered them; and work with other school officials, parents and community agencies to provide appropriate services.  The position responsibilities include facilitating small group sessions, enrolling/registration of new students (including orientation/tours), coordination of state testing (ACT and ACT Aspire) and advanced placement testing, providing parental education and staff in-services, assisting with individual counseling, post-secondary admission, and home visits, and serving as a member of the Building Leadership Team.  Knowledge of and ability to participate in the special education and section 504 process is vital.  Preference will be given to candidates with knowledge of or willingness to be trained in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI or ProACT) strategies and techniques.  A background in mental health, PBIS and RtI is also preferred.  A sound knowledge of the characteristics of adolescents and young adults is critical.  Must be computer literate and have the ability to adapt to and use the district's technology.
 
This is a full-time position beginning in the 2024-25 school year.  Additional summer work days will be required prior to the start of school.
 
Co-curricular coaching and advisor positions are available. 
 
Qualifications:   Must have, or be eligible for, Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction #7054 School Counselor (EC-A) license.
