QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must possess the necessary interpersonal skills to deal courteously, cooperatively and effectively with students, teachers, co-workers, administrators, and the public.
- Ability to optimize efficiency and effectiveness in a food service environment.
- Supervision and managmement experience.
- Competencies in reading, writing, math, and typing skills using multiple computer programs.
- Experience in large quantity cooking and school food service is preferred.
- Minimum hiring requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent educational experience, with academic major or concentration in food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field; OR
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent educational experience, with any academic major or area of concentration, and a state-recognized certificate for school nutrition directors. In Wisconsin this is the GOALS Certificate; OR
- Bachelor’s degree in any academic major and at least two years of relevant school nutrition programs experience; OR
- Associates degree, or equivalent educational experience, with academic major or concentration in food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field; and at least two years of relevant school nutrition programs experience.
- For new Food Service Directors, at least eight hours of food safety training is required either not more than five years prior to their starting date or completed within 30 days of their start date.
- ServSafe Certification required, or employee must get within the first year in position.
COMPENSATION: Wage and benefits will be in accordance with the District’s Central Office support staff employee as per the employee handbook for the time worked. Salary dependent upon relevant work experience. Work schedule will be Monday- Friday, 12 month position.
DUTIES: The Food Service Director is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of school food service for the Tomah Area School District. This may include program planning, administration, implementation, evaluation, and monitoring. Duties of the Food Service Director include sanitation, food safety, nutrition and menu planning, food production, facility layout and design, procurement, financial management, recordkeeping, program accountability, marketing, customer service, and personnel management.
