The Tomah Area School District has the following teaching vacancy beginning in the 2026-2027 school year:
 
Student Services Professional/Responsive Student Support – Miller Elementary
The Tomah School District is seeking an innovative educator who can work collaboratively with colleagues, develop positive relationships with students and parents, and build partnerships with the community.
 
The Student Services Professional: Responsive Student Support provides targeted and responsive services designed to address students' social, emotional, behavioral, and academic needs. This position works collaboratively with school staff, families, and students to provide intervention, skill development, problem-solving support, and coordination of services that help students successfully access and participate in their educational programs.


The position serves as a key member of the building's student support system and helps ensure students receive timely, appropriate, and effective supports.
 
Required:

  • Knowledge of behavioral, social-emotional, and mental health supports within educational settings.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with students, families, and staff.
 
Preferred
  • Experience providing behavioral and social-emotional interventions.
  • Knowledge of MTSS, PBIS, restorative practices, and trauma-informed
          approaches.
  • Experience collecting and analyzing behavioral and intervention data.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Responsive Student Support
  • Provide direct support to students experiencing social, emotional, behavioral,
         attendance, or school adjustment concerns.
  • Facilitate individual and small-group interventions designed to develop student
         skills and improve educational outcomes.
  • Support students through problem-solving, conflict resolution, emotional
         regulation, and skill development.
  • Assist students in understanding and applying school-wide expectations and
         behavioral skills.

     
Intervention and Support Planning
  • Collaborate with staff to identify appropriate interventions and supports for
          students experiencing difficulties.
  • Participate in development, implementation, and monitoring of targeted
          intervention plans.
  • Monitor student progress and adjust supports based on student needs and      
          response to intervention.
  • Support implementation of individualized student plans and behavioral
          supports.

     
Consultation and Collaboration
  • Work with teachers, administrators, and support staff to address barriers to
           student success.
  • Provide consultation regarding behavioral, social-emotional, and mental
          health needs.
  • Collaborate with families to increase student engagement and support positive
          outcomes.
  • Coordinate with community agencies and outside providers as appropriate.
     
Crisis Response and Student Assistance
  • Participate in building crisis response efforts and student safety planning.
  • Assist with reintegration and restorative processes following disciplinary
          incidents.
  • Support students through challenging transitions and situations affecting
          educational performance.
  • Respond to student concerns and provide timely intervention when needed.
     
Student Services Support
  • Participate in IEP, Section 504, attendance, and student support meetings as
          appropriate.
  • Assist teams in collecting and reviewing relevant student data.
  • Contribute to comprehensive support planning for students with identified
           needs.

     
Other Duties
  • Maintain required records and documentation.
  • Participate in district and building professional development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
 
This is a full-time position beginning in the 2026-27 school year. Co-curricular coaching and advisor positions are available.
 
Qualifications: Must have, or must receive prior to the first day of work, a valid Wisconsin DPI license as a: School Counselor; and/or School Social Worker; and/or School Psychologist. Will consider candidates working on master degree.
