The Tomah Area School District has the following extracurricular vacancy beginning in the 2026-2027 school year: TMS Assistant Musical Director
 
DESCRIPTION OF MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES OF POSITION:
The TMS Assistant Musical Director works closely with the Head Musical Director to support all areas of the TMS musical production. The purpose of this position is to assist with rehearsals, student management, and performances while helping create a positive, organized, and successful musical experience for students.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Assist the Head Musical Director with all areas of the musical production
· Assist with student supervision and management during rehearsals
· Support students in learning and preparing for the musical
· Assist with organizing and facilitating rehearsals
· Communicate and collaborate with the Head Musical Director regarding student needs and production details
· Attend all scheduled rehearsals, auditions, and performances
· Manage the backstage area during performances to ensure students and production elements are organized and running smoothly
· Help coordinate student entrances, exits, scene changes, and backstage activities during performances
· Assist with maintaining a safe, positive, and respectful environment for all students
· Assist with other duties related to the successful production of the musical as assigned
 
SCHEDULE:
Auditions: October 5 and October 8
Rehearsals: Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, 3:30–5:30 PM
Rehearsals Begin: Monday, October 12
Performances: First weekend of December
 
REQUIRED SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
· Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
· Experience working with middle school students preferred
· Ability to work effectively as part of a production team
· Strong organizational and communication skills
· Ability to manage and supervise students in a rehearsal and performance setting
· Ability to remain calm, organized, and attentive in a fast-paced backstage environment
· Ability to follow direction from the Head Musical Director and work collaboratively with other staff and volunteers
· Reliable and punctual attendance at all scheduled rehearsals, auditions, and performances
· Interest or experience in musical theater, theater production, performing arts, or backstage production preferred
